Ann Brown

Ann Brown was born on July 5, 1938, in Wortham, Texas to Clarence Clayton Patterson and Lyda Oletha Owens Patterson, and passed from this life on January 31, 2025, at home surrounded by her family. Private arrangements under the direction of McWhorter Funeral Home. Ann married Richard Brown on June 8, 1956, in Corsicana, Texas and they celebrated 68 years together. She was a talented caterer for over 35 years and was always willing to share her decorating and cooking with others. She was known for her delicious petit fours and wedding cakes. After retiring from weddings, she continued to make cakes for many families. For many years Ann used her love for the piano and played for the residents at Gilmer Care Center and Pioneer Manor. Ann, alongside Richard, served popcorn in their neighborhood every Halloween. It was a family favorite for many, always having repeat families come for their treat. In 1996, Ann and Richard volunteered at no cost to donate the food and labor for Breakfast With Santa, and later, Lori and Ricky took over spanning over two decades. Birdwatching was always a favorite pastime at the lake house, along with rides in the country with Richard and having ice cream for a treat. Ann loved spending time with her family and attending all the sporting events for her grandchildren. She was proud of her family and loved seeing her grandchildren have children and start their families. Richard and Ann loved pets and raised two different golden retrievers, Sandy and Rusty. They also had a beloved cat, Sassy, who was the queen of the house. Ann was a member of First Baptist Church. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Richard; son, Rick Brown (Margie); daughter, Lori Metcalf (Ricky); son, Tim Brown (Denise); sister, Becky Thurston (Robert); brother, Billy Jack Patterson; grandchildren, Juliana Wootten (Jordan), Emily Ricks (Donavan), Blake Brown, Audrey Brown, Dalton Brown (Katlin); and great-grandchildren, John-Mark Wootten, Preston Wootten, Graham Wootten, Madelyn Ricks, Daelyn Ricks, Zoey Ricks, Katherine Brown, and Eliza Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Jo Nell Hammer, sister-in-law, Charlene Patterson; and special aunt, Helen Patterson.
