Ann Marie Hamilton

Ann Marie Hamilton, 56, of Ore City, passed from this life on September 18, 2024, peacefully at her home in Ore City, Texas. After a 9-month battle with cancer, she returned to the Lord as she slept, with her son at her side and her favorite music playing. Ann maintained her humor, kindness, wit, grace, compassion, and limitless love of family and friends all the way to the end, and she expressed eternal gratitude for the life she was given, full of wonderful and varied experiences. Ann was born February 21, 1968, in Grand Prairie, Texas, to Clifton Ewell Hamilton and Billie Margaret James. She lived in Calisburg, Texas and Arlington, Texas as a child, before graduating high school in Spring Hill, Texas. She spent some time in nursing school, where she acquired knowledge and skills that she would often utilize to care for those around her, but she would eventually go on to become a paralegal for the next 30 years in Gilmer, Texas. A well-loved figure within the community, and always quick with a joke, Ann made friends everywhere she went. Known for her energetic and bright presence, she was able to bring vibrancy and life to any room she was in. She was strong willed and not afraid to speak her mind, but never conducted herself with anything less than total class. Ann possessed an impeccable sense of style, with the ability to easily construct an outfit or decorate a home with outstanding taste. She also took great joy in caring for her many plants, which could always be found perfectly punctuating her home. Ann exemplified the wanderlust spirit. Never one to waste a weekend, if there wasn’t work to be done, you could often find her on an adventure of some sort. Whether that meant the Rocky Mountains, Jamaica, the Ozarks, Crater Lake, Scotland, or simply a short road trip to visit family, Ann lived life to the absolute fullest, no matter where she was. Many fondly recall her as being the life of the party, always ready to bring a smile to your face and a laugh to your lips. She regularly went on trips with her group of friends, the River Girls, whom she formed a lifelong bond with, creating countless memories and unforgettable good times. An avid animal lover, Ann could never resist snapping a picture with any willing furry participant. Her photos are filled with selfies with puppies, horses, kittens, and farm animals, highlighting the great happiness that these pure creatures would bring her. Amongst her many images, which include grandchildren, sunsets, birds, and landscapes, a common theme of true appreciation for beauty and utter love of life can be found. No being went without food or care in her presence. A proponent for the truth and propagator of love and life, her spirit always longed to do what was right, and she maintained an endless curiosity for the world around her. Ann, called Ann Marie by her siblings, and Gigi by her grandchildren, will be missed beyond measure by all those who knew her. Ann is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Harley & Victoria Davis; stepdaughter and stepson Cody & Joe Bouknight; brothers Billy Ewell, Allen, David, Scott, and Glen; sisters Donna, Pat, and Rita Sue; grandchild Luna, and step-grandchildren, Jaxon, Dalton, Noah and Grace. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clifton and Billie; brothers Rodney, Walter Ray, Dean, and Tony; and beloved dog and companion, Gracie. To best honor Ann’s memory and celebrate her life, make sure to live every day to the fullest, to love without bounds, always remember the special dates, to spread kindness and compassion, but, most of all, to give a loud and hearty “Yee, Yee!” when you’re having fun in her name!
