Bill Suggett

Funeral services for Bill Suggett, 66, of Gilmer, Texas are scheduled for 3:00 pm, Saturday, January 7, 2023, at McWhorter Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at 2:00 pm prior to the service. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park. Bill was born March 29, 1956, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, to Joe and Audrey Lowrey Suggett, and passed from this life on December 29, 2022. Bill was raised in Scottsbluff, Nebraska along with his four sisters. He then lived in Clarendon, Arkansas before moving to Texas in 1985 and lived his remaining years in the Gilmer area. As a child, he enjoyed playing with his G. I. Joes, playing cowboys, and Indians, and picking on his sisters. His childhood consisted of teeter totters, and tire swings his dad made for them. Billy was a bit of an “inventor” from a young age. Starting with building tree houses, and underground tunnels “Where No Girls Were Allowed”. There are so many memories of camping, lakes, swimming, and him playing with his chihuahua “Peppy”. He enjoyed taking his nieces and nephews riding on his motorcycle. He always helped his parents, with any task. His heart was big. He took in stray kittens, “Yes, Billy was that kind of guy”. Family time with Billy consisted of playing his guitar. He always wrote what was in his heart, which meant we listeners would hear songs of his love for Jesus, family, or church. After all, in the end, that’s what really mattered, and it was what he loved. Anyone that knew Billy, knew he loved Jesus, family, friends, and music. What a legacy to leave behind, that of love. Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Clarissa Murphy, and husband, Steven; sisters, Paulette Barrett and husband Ken; sister, Mary Wheeler; grandchildren, Faith Stevens, Gracelyn Stevens, Peyton Murphy, and Adrianna Murphy; numerous nieces and nephews; and numerous great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Audrey Suggett; brother, Bobby Suggett; and sisters, Sharon Kenally, and Shirley Hayes. Pallbearers will be Steven Wiess, Ken Barrett, Cornelio Martinez, Carlos Lopez, Carlos Lopez Jr, and Fernando Lopez.
