Don Meador

Funeral services for Don Meador, 63, of Gilmer, Texas will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, January 27, 2025, at McWhorter Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Rosewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 1:00 pm, prior to the service. Don was born on September 11, 1961, in Miller County, Arkansas to Charles and Yevon Meador. He passed from this life on January 22, 2025, at home, surrounded by his family. Don worked for Etex Telephone and EastTex Telephone until his retirement. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and loved cooking for everyone. Fishing, hunting, and making knives were his favorite hobbies. Don had a giving heart and was always eager to help others. He was the first to help with car repairs, home repairs, or help someone in a bind. If he didn’t know how to fix it, he would figure out a way. He completed many church service projects such as helping build barns, homes, cleaning properties, and cooking at scout camps. Don did many welding projects for friends and family, working tirelessly until the projects were completed. Other services were given for the Harmony ISD athletics programs whether it was repairing a field, fence, or bringing players cold drinks and sliced fruit. Because of Don’s strong patriotism and love for veterans, he participated in hunts and various activities to honor our servicemen. He donated many handmade knives to raise money for the Combat Warriors’ funds to give back to the brave men and women who have fought for our freedoms. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Cindy Meador; daughter, Amanda Peterson (Troy); sons, Charles Meador (Amber), and Michael Meador (Caitlin), Lauren Hodges-Jones, Leslie Hodges, and Lacy Junkin (Derek); brother, John Meador (Jean), sisters, Twila Kelcourse (Dan), and Louise Boland (Andy); sister-in-law, Pam Meador; grandchildren, Amie Peterson, Maren Peterson, Emma Peterson, Grace Peterson, Blake Peterson, Braylon Meador, Nathan Myrick, Eathan Myrick, Calvin Meador, Henry Meador, Hunter Eitel, Cooper Young, Brently Jones, Owen Jones, Camryn Tuttle, Demi Junkin, and Dani Junkin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Yevon Meador; and his brother, Leroy Meador. Pallbearers will be Charles Meador, Michael Meador, Braylon Meador, Nathan Myrick, Eathan Myrick, Blake Peterson, and Troy Peterson. Honorary pallbearers will be Calvin Meador, Henry Meador, John Meador, Andy Boland, Dan Kelcourse, Michael Seahorn, Cooper Young, Hunter Eitel, and Owen Jones.
