Marylene Louise Loyd

Marylene Louise Loyd passed peacefully from this life on August 6, 2022, in Longview, Texas at the age of 78. Marylene was born October 27, 1943, in San Diego, California to the late Frank and Serafina Rios Moreno. Marylene is preceded in death by her three sisters, Carolina Torres, Arlene Walker, and Sandra Solano. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of fifty-six years, Jerry Loyd; children, Marlene Stewart (Mark), Thomas Lee Loyd, and Sarah Marie Frazier (Steven); grandchildren, Richard Loyd, Sierra Wooten (Andrew), and Carlee Bates (Mason); her four great grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Marylene, originally from San Diego, moved to southeast Texas soon after her and Jerry’s wedding in California. Following their move to Galveston, Texas, Marylene devoted her time to raising her family as a stay-at-home mother. She opened her heart and door to all, being remembered as a “mother to many”. As her and Jerry’s children began to grow out of their home and into their own lives, Marylene began her career as a real estate agent, where her passion for homes would carry on throughout her life. Marylene was well-known in the family as the one to turn to during a house hunt. She always knew the perfect places to look. Following changes in Jerry’s work in the oilfield industry, her and Jerry moved to the Longview area, where she never put her real estate passion to rest calling for many moves within the area over the next few years. As Marylene’s family began to expand and grandchild came into her life, Marylene gained her title of “Nana”. Throughout her later years in life, Marylene continued to devote her time to her family and grandchildren where she would continually share her love for cooking, shopping, painting, and gift-giving. Marylene most loved sharing her time in her later years with one her beloved great granddaughters, Coraline Frazier. Marylene is most remembered by her caring and loving heart. Services for Marylene will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Gladewater, Texas on Saturday, August 20th at 5:30 in the evening.
