Memorial services for Mike Powell, 57, of Winnsboro, Texas, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, in the chapel of McWhorter Funeral Home, with Bro. Jed Whitaker and Bro. Alan Metzel officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 p.m., prior to the service. Mike was born on August 23, 1968, in Winnsboro, Texas, to James and Bobbie Wetzel Powell and passed from this life on July 11, 2026, in Tyler, Texas. On May 18, 1991, Mike married the love of his life, Pam Stegall, in Gilmer, Texas. Together they built a beautiful life over 35 years of marriage, centered on faith, family, hard work, and unconditional love. Mike was a devoted husband, a proud father, and an excited soon-to-be grandfather. His greatest joy came from spending time with those he loved most, whether gathered around the table, outdoors, or simply enjoying each other’s company. He never met a stranger and was the kind of man who would lend a helping hand without hesitation. Mike faithfully served as the Maintenance Director for Harmony ISD, where he took tremendous pride in his work. He loved his job and considered his coworkers more than colleagues—they were family. His strong work ethic, willingness to help others, and dedication to the students and staff left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of working alongside him. An avid outdoorsman, Mike found peace and happiness in God’s creation. He loved hunting, fishing, and spending time outside, whether he was in a deer stand, on the water, or mowing the yard. He enjoyed working with his hands and took pride in caring for his home and helping others. No matter what he was doing, Mike was happiest when surrounded by the people he loved. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Pam Powell; son, Hunter Powell; daughter, Hannah Clary and her husband, Justin; father, James Powell; siblings, Kerry Powell and Miranda Troth; mother-in-law, Ann Stegall; sisters-in-law, Mandi Stegall and Laran Bearden; and one precious grandchild on the way. He also leaves behind two lifelong best friends whom he considered brothers, Greg Pearson and Timmy Whitson, along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who were blessed to know him. Mike was preceded in death by his mother, Bobbie Powell, and his nephew, Justin Powell. Mike will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his loyal friendships, his servant’s heart, his dedication to his work, and his deep appreciation for the simple joys of life.
