Milburn Dwain Ferguson

Funeral services for Milburn Dwain Ferguson, 92, of Gilmer, Texas will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, July 25, 2024, at McWhorter Funeral Home with Brother Donnie Loyd officiating. Interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at 10:00 am prior to the service. Dwain was born September 19, 1931, in Gilmer, Texas to Milburn Ray "Buster" Ferguson and Janey Wilson Ferguson and passed from this life into the arms of his Savior on July 18, 2024, surrounded by his family. Dwain married the love of his life, Lois Sue Anderson, on December 23, 1951, in Gilmer, Texas, and they shared 72 years of marriage. They enjoyed many years of camping at Albert Pike National Park with family and friends. His hobbies included woodworking; gardening; flying remote-controlled airplanes; restoring and driving his antique Ford Roadster; and touring the United States. Dwain proudly served our country in the United States Air Force. His four-year term included a one-year deployment at the Thule Greenland Air Force Base, receiving the rank of SSgt and many accommodations. He utilized the training he received while in the Air Force to become a Master Electrician. Dwain then served as an Electrical Trades teacher at Gilmer Independent School District for 24 years before his retirement. He considered it a true blessing to train young people for their future careers. Dwain, a devout Christian, served many years as a Sunday School teacher and deacon for New Hopewell Baptist Church. He and Sue were current members of Grace Baptist Church in Gilmer. He is survived by his wife, Sue Ferguson; children, LaDonna Wilson (Mike), Mark Ferguson (Judy), and Tina Brewer (Norman); grandchildren, Jina Upright (Jeremy), Michael Wilson, Charlsie Gillcoat (Rush), Robert Ferguson ( Natalie), Jordan Ferguson (Chelsea), Chris Ferguson (Danyele), Matthew Brewer (Brittany), Beau Brewer (Ashar Bell), and Jenny Meadows (Alex); great-grandchildren, Payden Upright, Cameron Wilson, Christian Wilson, Trynlie Ferguson, Aubri Ferguson, Cami Ferguson, Cade Smith, Sutton Ferguson, Cayden Brewer, Blakely Brewer and Wyatt Brewer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milburn "Buster" and Janey Ferguson; and daughter-in-law, Trynda Moore Ferguson.
