Misty Dawn Hensley

Misty Dawn Hensley passed away on October 20, 2024, in Longview, TX at the age of 49. She was born August 27, 1975, in Sherman, TX to John and Barbara Forsythe and was the youngest of five children. She graduated high school in Gladewater, TX where she excelled in band playing the flute. After graduation she went on to pursue a career in animal medicine, later changing paths to work in the healthcare field. Misty is survived by her loving husband of 31 years, James Phillip Hensley of Gilmer, TX; their two children, Ashley Garrido and husband Luis of Canton, TX, and James Clifford Hensley of Longview, TX; her sister Sheryl Mills and husband Danny of Franklin, Arkansas; her brother Richard Forsythe of Sherman, TX; nephews Daniel Calvin Mills and Eric Mills of Sherman, TX; and her niece Mary Kirby and husband Clayton of Wyndom, TX. Lastly, she is survived by her beloved service dog Dozier Hensley, who was her constant companion for six years. Her parents and two siblings preceded her in death. In 2016 Misty was diagnosed with a rare genetic brain disorder, MoyaMoya, and survived three brain surgeries. She was eager to raise awareness and enjoyed educating people about her disorder. She registered as an organ donor and also made sure her family knew to donate her brain to research upon her passing, which was honored as she requested. Misty was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in 2023 and although she was limited by her condition, she used her time and energy to let others know about the relief God's Kingdom will soon bring to mankind. She looked forward to a future life of no pain, illness or death. One of her favorite scriptures is found in Revelation 21:4: "And He will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more. Neither will mourning, nor outcry, nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." Family visitation will be held on Friday, November 1 from 6 - 8 p.m. at McWhorter Funeral Home, 1074 TX-300, Gilmer, TX 75645. Services will be held Saturday, November 2, at 12:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 712 State Hwy 155, Gilmer, TX 75644 followed by burial at 1:30 p.m. at Kelsey Cemetery, 6380 Magnolia Rd, Gilmer, TX 75644. Pallbearers will be: Chance Hendricks, James C.Hensley, Donald Hensley, Daniel C Mills, Garry Isham and Jason Davis.
