Sharon Adams

With heavy hearts, we share that our cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, Sharon Walley Adams, passed away on June 19, 2025, at the age of 80. Her presence was a source of strength, and her absence leaves an immeasurable void in our lives. Sharon was born on September 28, 1944, in Gilmer, Texas, to Paul and Agnes Smith Walley. She grew up in a military family, moving frequently as her father served in the U.S. Air Force, and lived in places like New York and Japan. These early experiences nurtured her adventurous spirit, broadened her perspective, and instilled in her a quiet strength that carried her throughout her life. Sharon began her career as a schoolteacher, and later, driven by her deep desire to care for others, she returned to school and became a nurse. She served with compassion and excellence until her retirement in 2014, leaving a lasting impact on those she cared for and worked alongside. She met the love of her life, Raymond “Buddy” Adams, and together they built a beautiful life rooted in love, laughter, and shared adventure. For a time, they lived in Saudi Arabia, an experience that gave them the opportunity to travel extensively and immerse themselves in different cultures. After retirement, Sharon and Buddy took to the road in their RV, exploring the country and forming new friendships wherever they went. Their travels were filled with joy and the kind of memories that come from a life well lived together. Sharon was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was known for her wisdom, her deep love of animals, and her unwavering devotion to her family. Her infectious laugh could light up a room, and her presence brought joy to those around her. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Ashley McFarland (David); grandchildren, Taylor Reis (Daniel), Cameron Young, Wesley Manasco (Laura), Corey Manasco, Madison McFarland, and Kyle McFarland; and seven great-grandchildren—each of whom will carry forward her legacy of love and resilience. A funeral service to honor Sharon’s life will be held on Saturday, June 28 at 2:00 pm at McWhorter Funeral Home. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend and celebrate her extraordinary life. The family will receive friends at 1:00 pm prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a Veterans Organization of choice, a cause close to Sharon’s heart. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
