Cosette Stewart Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Funeral Services for Madilene Cosette Stewart, 87, of Gilmer, Texas, will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, June 5, 2022, at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Matthew Smith and Pastor Stewart Kouba officiating. Visitation will be held at 2:00 pm prior to the service. Private interment will be held at Sunset Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of McWhorter Funeral Home. Cosette was born December 1, 1934, to Elton Lavoy and Florence Guest Hagler in Gilmer, Texas and passed from this life May 30, 2022. She married Kenneth Stewart, August 15, 1952. Cosette was a school secretary for Gilmer ISD for 25 years before her retirement. She was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church serving the church in various capacities. Cosette’s passion was preserving the church’s history. She compiled numerous scrapbooks dating back to the establishment of the church in 1852, so that the history will not be forgotten. Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, Kenneth Stewart; daughter, Deborah Loyd; daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Wes Kouba; son, Ken Stewart; daughter-in-love, Oil Stewart; brothers and sisters-in-law, Clinton and Carol Hagler, and Dock and Sue Hagler; sister-in-law, Mary Hagler; granddaughter, Alanna Hodges and husband, Justin Hodges; granddaughter, Kimberly Rossbach and husband, Philipp Rossbach; grandson, Aaron Loyd and wife, Leslie Loyd; granddaughter, Karen Davis and husband, Matt Davis; grandson, Stewart Kouba and wife, Jessica; granddaughters, Jessica Stewart and Christen Stewart; and great grandchildren, Madeline and Landon Hodges, Caroline Davis, Gracen and Asher Loyd, Kennedy and Jonah Rossbach, and Aurora, Elliot, and Atlas Kouba. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elton and Florence Hagler; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Neal Fomby; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dean and Sonoma Hagler, Norman and Jimmy Hagler; brother, Elton Hagler Jr.; and son-in-law, Alan Loyd. Pallbearers are Ken Stewart, Aaron Loyd, Philipp Rossbach, Justin Hodges, Matt Davis, and Landon Hodges. Memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O.
