James "Buddy" Hendrix

August 9, 1944 - December 22, 2021

Funeral Services for James Douglas “Buddy” Hendrix, 77, of Gilmer, will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, December 24, 2021, in the Chapel of McWhorter Funeral Home with Brother Larry Gilliam and Brother Donny Loyd officiating. Interment to follow at Glenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 1:00 pm prior to the service. Buddy was born August 9, 1944, to Douglas Edgar and Nellie Lucille Walker Hendrix, in Woodlawn, Texas and passed to his Heavenly home December 22, 2021. Buddy married Nancy Lynn Rash, December 20, 1969, at New Bethlehem. He was a draftsman and engineer for General Dynamics in Kilgore, Texas and retired after 31 years. He was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church. Buddy proudly served our country in the United States Army. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Nancy Hendrix; sons, Shane Hendrix and wife, Amber, Jason Hendrix and wife, Stephania, Chad Hendrix and wife, Cari; grandchildren, Baylee Hendrix Bell and husband, Dustan, Baylee Paige Youngblood, Riley Hendrix, Landon Hendrix, Colton Hendrix and wife, Hannah, Chelbi Hendrix, Saige Hendrix, and Bristol Hendrix; great grandchildren, Brantley Bell, Landry Bell, Luke Bell, and Ryver Hendrix; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Patty and Dana Hughes, Dian and Mike Melton; sister-in-law, Debbie Rash; and his aunt, Mary Shick. He was preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Nellie Hendrix. Pallbearers are Dustin Hodges, Willie Rawls, Cory Clamp, Robbie Allen, Kelly Phillips, Mark Massengill, Julian Douthitt, and Jeff East. Honorary pallbearer is Richard Allen.
