Funeral services for Jan McWhorter, 71, of Gilmer, Tx are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Saturday, February 20, 2021 in the chapel of McWhorter Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at 1:00 pm prior to the service. Private interment will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery. Jan was born July 5, 1949, in Pittsburg, Texas, to Elver Aubrey and Lillie Mae Sorge Saxon and passed from this life February 14, 2021. Jan married John Roy McWhorter on September 23, 1967 in Pittsburg, Texas. She was a 1967 graduate of Pittsburg High School. Jan was a loving mother, Meme, sister, and friend. She was famous for her chocolate cake and the best sausage balls ever. She will be dearly missed by her family. Those left to cherish her memory are her; son, John McWhorter II (Amy); granddaughter, Kaylin McWhorter; granddaughter, Colin Efurd (Brantly); grandson, Riley Coleman (Samantha); great grandson, Tate Efurd; sister-in-law, Dot Saxon Nolan (George); brother, Aubrey Saxon; brother-in-law, Jimmy Burleson; and by her sister-in-law, Donna Saxon; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John McWhorter in June, 2020; brothers, Ronnie Joe Saxon and Waylon Saxon; and by her sister, Dian Burleson.
