Jody "Joe" Suggs Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Jody "Joe" Suggs, 62, of Gilmer, was born November 23, 1958, to Jimmy Dean and Shirley Ann Capps Suggs and passed from this life June 29, 2021. A Celebration of Life will be held at 4:00 pm, Saturday, July 3, 2021, at Jay Valley Baptist Church. The family will receive friends after the service. Arrangements are under the direction of McWhorter Funeral Home. In Jody's personal time, he enjoyed rodeo and spending time with family. He had a big heart and was always putting others first. Jody's personality was larger than life and one of a kind. He always had you laughing with his stories and jokes. He loved his children, grandchildren, and siblings deeply and left them all with plenty of crazy, fun memories. Jody worked for Satterwhite Log Homes for many years and later worked for MasterCraft Cabinets until his retirement. Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Naomi Suggs Kennedy, Bubba Suggs and his wife, Cheryl, and Sarah Suggs Hendrix and her husband, Adam; brothers, Jimmy David Suggs and Willard Suggs; sisters, Denise Suggs and Mary Ann Hawthorne; 8 grandchildren, Josh Rodgers, Lane Kennedy, Ty Kennedy, Jacey Suggs, AJ Hendrix, Levi Hendrix, Landry Kennedy, Daisy Hendrix; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; and by his brother, Chuck Suggs and niece Lindsey Suggs. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy David Suggs, Willard Suggs, Gary Bussey, Mike Cook, Larry Dean McIntosh, Macky McIntosh, Ricky Bussey, Dale Savell, and Mark Dickard.
