Funeral services for Lowery William Thompson, 73, of Gilmer, Tx are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Sunday, March 15, 2020 in the chapel of McWhorter Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm prior to the service. He was born, May 23, 1946 in Atoka County, Oklahoma, to Coy and Alice Ione Springer Thompson and passed from this life March 11, 2020, at his home in Gilmer, Texas. Mr. Thompson worked for Swepco for over 30 years retiring as a control room operator. He was a very generous man with a big heart. He loved giving gifts. He was always pulling practical jokes or telling jokes. He also loved to dress as Santa Claus for Christmas and hand out gifts to the children at his Swepco Christmas parties and for his grandkids. He loved to hunt and fish. He enjoyed being with his family and playing with the grandkids. Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Dawn Williamson, Denise Nicholson (Calvin) and Brenda Thompson; 3 stepchildren, Jack Parsons, Jr., Tina Huseth and Angey Zenkner; 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rose Mary Thompson in 2016; brothers, Coy Winford Thompson, Jr., Adrian Thompson and Steve Thompson and Kenneth Thompson; and by his sister, Barbara Ann Thompson.
