Funeral Services for Wanda Stracener, 89, of Gilmer, will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, February 25, 2022, at McWhorter Funeral Home with Brother Billy Byrd officiating. Private interment to follow at Hopewell Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 10:00 am prior to the service. Wanda was born on September 11, 1932, to Charlie Duke and Martha L. Harrison in Upshur County, Texas. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church of Gilmer. She served her Lord and Savior and His greatness through the way she lived her life. She passed from this life surrounded by her family who loved her dearly on February 22, 2022. Wanda was a seamstress by trade, doing alterations for many people. Her hobbies included piecing and quilting quilts, crocheting afghans, baby blankets, needlepoint, cross stitch anything she could do with her talented hands. She blessed many family and friends with gifts of her talents. Being a humble, gentle woman, she always underestimated the value of those gifts. Wanda was predeceased by her parents; brother, Billy Ben Harrison; sister, Lurece Broome; brother and sister-in-law, Elwyn and Pauline Harrison as well as her youngest son, Steve Stracener. Wanda, also known as Mother, Mommy, Aunt Rose, Grandma, friend, leaves to cherish her memory her children, June Johnson and her husband Larry; Tommy Stracener and his wife Lana, all of Gilmer; and Teresa Caldwell of Round Rock, Texas; Also, her grandchildren, Douglas (Cody) Montgomery; Angelia (Tracy) Briggs; Casey Stracener; Gina (Frank) Metz; Misty (Dennis) Sprouse; Kelli (Billy) Byrd; Caleb (Lana Stracener); LaTonia Thompson; Kelita Caldwell and Nikki Stracener; Walt (Tina) Johnson; Wade (Delcine) Johnson; Sharon (James David) Smith. She also leaves 33 great grandchildren, numerous great great grandchildren, many nieces and a nephew, and a much loved sister-in-law Patsy Williams. Pallbearers are Douglas Montgomery, Caleb Stracener, Walt Johnson, Wade Johnson, Tracy Briggs, James David Smith, Dennis Sprouse, and Frank Metz.
