Graveside Services for Howard Wilson, 77, of Pittsburg, Texas, will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, July 20, 2026, at Oak Hill Cemetery with Bro. David Jackson officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of McWhorter Funeral Home. Howard passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026, in Tyler, Texas, surrounded by the love of his family. Howard was born on January 10, 1949, in Santa Rosa, California, to Morris Howard Wilson and Jewell McAlvain Wilson, who both preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Harold Wiggington, his parents-in-law, Harold and Betty Jackson of Gilmer, Texas; his brothers-in-law, Johnny Jackson, and Randy Martin; and his sister-in-law, Margaret Jackson; and also Steve Meagley. Howard is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 35 years, Renee (Jackson) Wilson, the love of his life. Their marriage was a beautiful example of love, faith, and devotion. He is also survived by his daughters: Terri Ernest and husband Billy Lovell of Panama, Oklahoma; Christy Bryant and husband Johnny of Shady Point, Oklahoma; and Danin Tharpe of Longview, Texas. Howard is also survived by his brothers-in-law Jimmy Jackson; Tommy Jackson and his wife, Lisa; David Jackson and his wife, Cindy; and his sisters-in-law Terry Meagley and Diane Martin, and special nephew Nick Meagley. Howard was a proud grandfather to Alyson Wilson, Zach Ernest, Aubrey Ramos, Caitlynn Harper, Josh Ernest, Jacob Harper, Khloe Tharpe, Mallorie Tharpe, and Sophie Tharpe, with one more grandchild on the way. He was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren: Zaiden, Zayleigh, Zoei, Kallen, Karson, LaniKay, and Bodhi. Howard was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved his family with all his heart. He had a wonderful sense of humor and always enjoyed making others laugh. His laughter was contagious, and it is one of the things his family will miss most. A devoted Christian, Howard lived a life rooted in faith. He was a God-fearing man whose love for the Lord guided the way he loved and cared for those around him. His kindness, steady presence, and unwavering love for his family leave behind a legacy that will continue for generations. Howard had a special gift for music. Whether he was playing for family, friends, or simply enjoying a quiet moment, his music reflected the warmth and kindness of his heart. He was also an exceptional cook who loved preparing meals for those he loved. Whether gathered around the table or listening to him play, family and friends were always made to feel welcome. His guitar, his cooking, and the love he shared through both will remain treasured memories for everyone who knew him. Though his family grieves his passing, they find comfort in knowing he is now at peace in the presence of his Savior. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
